Born in Cairo, N.Y., Jennifer Connelly started modeling as a child before landing her first leading role in the 1985 film Phenomena. Her Mother, Eileen Connelly is the daughter of Polish and Russian Jewish immigrants, was educated at a yeshiva. Her father Gerard was Roman Catholic and of Irish and Norwegian descent.
