Ben Affleck spoke on the Howard Stern Show on Monday about his struggles with alcohol. He inadvertently seemed to place the blame of his addiction onto his ex-wife and mother of his three children, Jennifer Garner.

“I’d probably still be drinking. It’s part of why I started drinking… because I was trapped,” the actor revealed to Howard Stern.
“I was like ‘I can’t leave ’cause of my kids, but I’m not happy, what do I do?’ What I did was drink a bottle of scotch and fall asleep on the couch, which turned out not to be the solution.”

On his reasons why he finally split with Garner, Affleck said: “We had a marriage that didn’t work. This happens. It was somebody I love and respect but to whom I shouldn’t be married any longer.”

Affleck and Garner tied the knot in 2005 and divorced in 2018. Affleck with into rehab to treat his alcoholism in 2018.
Affleck also had a go at Garner when he won an Oscar in 2013 for “Argo” when he told a worldwide audience during his acceptance speech that marriage to Garner was “work.”

Garner on the other hand has always been very vocal in her support and love for Affleck. She has also supported him during his rehab stints.

“He’s the love of my life,” the actress told Vanity Fair in 2015.
“What am I going to do about that? He’s the most brilliant person in any room, the most charismatic… I always say, ‘When his sun shines on you, you feel it. ‘But when the sun is shining elsewhere, it’s cold. He can cast a shadow.”
Garner has absolutely experienced this.
Affleck has now taken up again with previous love Jennifer Lopez. The pair confirmed their high profile romance in June this year.
