Rapid changes that have affected the world during the last couple of years have resulted in a very different outcome to the annual rankings of the most expensive cities in the world results for 2021.
The latest study was conducted by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) and data for the survey has been carried out for more than three decades. It also concluded that the cost for city inhabitants has seen its most exponential increase in five years. And according to the EIU’s economists, this is a likely trend that will continue going into 2022.
The 2021 Worldwide Cost of Living index tracks the cost of living across 173 global cities an increase of over 40 more than last year and then compares the price of more than 200 everyday services and products.
The upper rankings continue to be dominated by developed Asian and European cities with the lowest consisting predominately of cities in Africa, the Middle east and less affluent areas of Asia.

1. Tel Aviv, Israel

According to the EIU Tel Aviv, Israel is the world’s most expensive city to live in. The Israeli City jumped from fifth place last year to top of the listings for the first time in 2021.
