The ongoing legal altercations that Johnny Depp has endured with his ex wife Amber Heard seem to have cast doubt on his ongoing acting career. Depp recently lost his case in the United Kingdom against the Sun Newspaper that had labeled him a ‘wife beater’ which may have permanently tainted his reputation with the actor writing on instagram that he was ‘asked to resign by Warner Bros’ from his role portraying Gellert Grindelwald in the “Fantastic Beasts” film franchise. ‘I wish to let you know that I have been asked to resign by Warner Bros. from my role as Grindelwald in “Fantastic Beasts” and I have respected and agreed to that request.’ Depp said.
This request to depart from the “Harry Potter spinoff series came days after the damning court ruling against Depp was made. Warner Bros have confirmed they will recast the role before the third installment opens in theaters. The release date has also been pushed forward to the summer of 2022 from its original date which was November 2021.
